Motorsport season 2009 hasn’t even started and already there is some unpleasent news. The Jim Clark Revival in May has been cancelled as it clashed with the DTM at the Hockenheimring. After the reshuffling of the dates it was not possible to find a free slot for the Jim Clark Revival, this was due to some other reasons.
First of all the original date in April for the Revival clashed with the RMU Classic at Spa and therefore many racing series could not attend the event. The race at Spa however was first planned from 15th to the 17th of May, though, the organisers later confirmed a new date for the RMU classic in April. Which clashed with Jim Clark Revival. Still, organiser Ronny Bredhauer is now on the look for another venue to hold the event. With other words, there will be a Jim Clark Revival but not at Hockenheim, ultimately announced in April 2009. In 2010 a new attempt will be done to organise the event at the Hockenheimring.
We wonder were the new event will be organised. Zandvoort perhaps? Certainly interesting asthe event would maintain its connection with Jim Clark, as it was actually the first circuit on which Jim Clark raced a Lotus F1 in 1960 and also the circuit on which Clark took the Cosworth DFV’s first victory. Beside this, Zandvoort could do with a top quality historic event.. |
