Really? Yes really, Brabham Racing is back. Albeit not as a racing car manufacturer but as a tuner of high-performance road cars for now only BMW cars are treated to a bit of Australian (British? German?) untastefullness.
The first cars to be presented at the Essen Motor Show 2008 in November are the Brabham BT92 based on the BMW E92 M3, the BT60 based on the BMW E60 M5 and the BT70 which is a "sporty interpretation" of the X6. Brabham Racing was founded by Formula 1 world champion Jack Brabham back in the 60s. Not only building F1 cars but also F2 cars among others. After a long and very successful stint in the hands of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone the team changed hands and gradually moved down the F1 grid. Eventually the company went bust in 1992 after some some dodgy investment firm left the team in ruins. ![]() Brabham BMW BT92 Now though it's back but apart from a vague press release with some marketing communication jabbering we haven't heard anything else. To be continued.. |
