It had to happen some day. Never before, I had the opportunity to visit the Concours d'Elegance Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. On most other occasions I was busy organising our own event; Klassiekerrally Winterswijk. As Tom, all other volunteers and I took a year off there was no reason to not drive to Apeldoorn. Of course accompanied by a classic car: the Morris 1300 Super de Luxe from 1968.

Phil Hill: 1927-1980

The first of only two American F1 champions has died, aged 81 years old in Montery, California, last week. Hill suffered from Parkinson’s disease and another degenerative neurological disorder, multiple systems atrophy. Hill won many trophies, most of which he achieved in Europe in European cars.

National Dutch oldtimer festival

Sunday 17 August saw around 1000 classic cars making their way to the dutch racing track of Zandvoort for the 'National Oldtimer Festival'. Even though the event was held on the brilliant Zandvoort track it wasn't all about racing. Many did do a few quick laps but an equal amount of classic car owners decided to stay in the perimeter of the cosy paddock. which was absolutely stuffed with all sorts of classic cars.

The 20th Techno Classica saw another collection superb classic, youngtimer and racing cars. This automotive feast was spread over 11,000 square meters in 17 halls of the Essen exhibition centre. Cars ranging from Trabants to Porsche 917s.
